In our previous post, we explained how you can use social media to save money. Throughout this post, we’re going to discuss how you could use social media to generate income.
Nowadays, there are hundreds of thousands of people making money using social media. For some, it may just be a few pounds a day. For others, it’s their main source of income.
Someone with a large, engaged following on social media is extremely attractive to businesses. For this reason, business will often offer cash incentives for these ‘social media influencers’ to publish pictures that feature their products.
However, becoming a social media influencer is not easy. It takes time and patience.
Fortunately, this is not the only way you can make money using social media. Here are two great alternative methods.
Turn Your Passion into Income
Just because you’ve got a 9-5, it doesn’t have to stop you from making money on the side. However, if you choose to try and sell a product or service outside of work; you must be passionate about it.
Your side-project is going to be eating into your leisure time, so you’ll need to enjoy doing it.
Maybe you love art or crafts, car detailing, photography or writing content. Choose your passion and pursue it.
Once you’ve got your idea off the ground – you need to start promoting it. Historically this would have involved creating flyers, doing mailshots or handing out business cards.
Nowadays, you don’t even need a website to promote your product. Simply take good photos and publish them on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest or Snapchat.
At first, it may spark interest amongst friends and family. Through word of mouth you may find that you begin to amass more followers.
Once you start selling your product or service you can reinvest your profit into some paid advertising. This can really help to speed up the growth of your social media page and reach a larger audience.
Like thousands of people out there, you could find yourself turning your passion into your primary income source.
Network and Build Relationships
A great way to enhance your career is via networking.
Thanks to social media, you can now network with anyone in the world, using just your phone.
LinkedIn is great if you’re looking find job opportunities and grow your career. You can either go directly to the business or reach out to recruitment consultants.
Another benefit of social media is that you can liaise directly with influencers within your industry.
Whilst this may not directly generate income, it may help to grow your understanding of the market and subsequently make you a more attractive employee.
There really is no industry where social media would fail to provide you value. So, get yourself out there, network, listen, learn and grow. You never know where it might get you.
These are just two of the ways that you can use social media to generate income.
Remember, you don’t have to been a computer genius to create a Facebook profile. It’s also important that you don’t get overwhelmed by the variety of platforms available.
Simply choose one platform and get to know your way around it. When you feel comfortable, start publishing content and images. You’ll be surprised by the engagement you generate.
